Supporting Local Farmers to Meet Growing Demand for Nutrient-Dense Food
The farmers we work with are working together to meet the growing demand for local, nutrient dense food in the Kohala area and beyond. A project of the Kapaau-based nonprofit HIP Agriculture, Kohala Food Hub was launched to serve the Hawai‘i State Farm to School pilot program for the Department of Education’s Kohala school complex, in which our local cafeterias were able to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers.
Growing Local Food Systems for a More Sustainable Future
The core values of Kohala Food Hub include supporting our local farmers by providing consistent demand, in order to improve and increase healthy local food access in our community. We also strive to grow our local food systems so that we can become more food secure and less reliant on imports. By ordering from Kohala Food Hub, you can help us build and support our farming community, economy, and regenerative agriculture practices that preserve the 'āina.
